So, summer doesn’t officially start until June 20th, but when it comes to fashion, we’ve been on board with all things hot for weeks. Getting dressed in the warmer months feels extra effortless since you need less; plus brighter, longer days gives us carte blanche to be inspired by colors, prints and all styles that show a hint of skin. From now until Labor Day, almost anything goes and here’s what we love.
The Stripe Stuff
Classic breton or a rainbow of color. When it comes to stripes, we’re in line and ready to go. The best way to look at stripes is like a neutral, because the linear look seems to pair with most pieces. For summer, two of our faves are the GINNIE TANK because it’s a casual classic, while the NOVA TOP is a sexy summer personified with its sherbet shades of vertical stripes teamed with the cold shoulder. Hot stuff.
Boho Stitching
The benefit of timeless, artisan-inspired styles are two-fold. Firstly, in the hot days of summer, these breezy silhouettes, crafted from the softest cotton, are pretty much what we want to live in. Secondly, they have a certain wanderlust and handcrafted quality that will make everyone think you just got back from a trek across Morocco on a camel.
Sunset Hues
Summer color palettes are always bursting with bold hues and our favorites this season are all things red, dusty rose, watermelon, pale blue and classic navy. While you should always have a steady supply of basic black and white staples, never underestimate the chic appeal of slipping on the CORRA DRESS in tomato red or the NELLA TEE in Guava.
Cool and Cut Off
If you don’t own a pair of denim cut offs, then we suggest you head over and fill up your cart with the CINDY FRAYED HEM BOYFRIEND SHORTS—it’s the best way to get your denim fix while the temps are climbing. Add some unexpected glam by pairing them with a black cami or lace top for outdoor evening, or try a stripe tee to channel your inner vintage Brigitte Bardot for daytime deliciousness.
Onesie Love
For weekends and vacations, one of the easiest and chicest pieces to try is the jumper or romper. Aside from the slip on appeal of getting dressed in 10 seconds, it’s the epitome of effortless dressing. Perfect for weekend errands, poolside jaunts and a must-have in any weekender bag. Try the FARAH WOVEN COTTON STRIPE SLEEVELESS JUMPER or Onna Romper.
Say It With Flowers
Floral prints are everywhere for summer—from runways packed with printed couture gowns to traditional ethnic embroideries on casual cotton tops. It’s the easiest way to add a girlie twist to unstructured styles, and just like stripes (see above) a small sized floral print can be mixed with other patterns like pinstripes or gingham. Try ADELENE VINTAGE FLORAL SLEEVELESS TOP.
Frill Seeker
The quickest way to take an everyday basic from ho-hum to hot is to add a fresh frill. Ruffles can reinvent the classic tee (like the PAMINA COTTON SLUB RUFFLE TEE) and add the perfect amount of sex appeal to a dress or crisp cotton top like the CHENILLE COTTON POPLIN RUFFLE TOP. A ruffled hemline, sleeve or collar also gives a gorgeous fluidity that’s always flattering.
Details, Details
Since you’re not wearing tons of layers of clothing, the easiest way to customize any outfit with your personal style stamp is with ACCESSORIES. For summer, we love layering necklaces of different lengths, a couple of rings, a hat (for practical and fashion purposes) and, finally, don’t forget your mani/pedi—hands down the easiest way to add a pop of personal style to look. Go for the bold.
