Beautiful skirt, but runs large

I loved the way this skirt looked online and purchased it in the biscuit color for evenings at dinner on an African safari I am taking this summer. After calling Velvet and looking at the size chart I ordered a medium. When it arrived, the waist was too big for my 30 inch waist, so I had to return it. Unfortunately, the skirt was so popular in the biscuit color it was already sold out in the small, so no luck for me on this skirt...too bad!

I am 5'6" and 130 pounds. Fit. 50 years of age. I ordered a size small and should have ordered x-small. I am having it altered. I normally take a size small in Velvet shirts. I realize this is a skirt :)
